NY Times: With Arrival of Avocado Bar, Brooklyn Has It All

Sunset Park’s Industry City is now home to the world’s first  quick-serve avocado bar.  Avocaderia, started by friends Alberto Gramini, Alessandro Biggi and Francesco Brachetti, is located in Industry City’s Food Hall at 254 36th Street in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.  The concept was originated when Francesco moved to Mexico and fell in love with the popular fruit, which was largely unavailable in his native Italy.

The New York Times’ Florence Fabricant covered the opening:

This innovative bar is the place for avocado everything: smoothies, salads and, yes, toast. Francesco Brachetti, a native of Florence, Italy, fell for avocados while living in Mexico. “They’re tasty and healthy, and I ate them every day,” he said. “We didn’t have them in Italy.” He persuaded a cousin, the chef Alberto Gramini, also from Florence, and a friend, Alessandro Biggi, from Modena, to go into the avocado business with him. Their avocado bar, decorated with Moroccan tiles, serves other specialties like tuna and avocado ceviche, all to go.
