Aaron Smith Joins Marino’s Cannabis and Higher Ed Teams
NEW YORK – March 4, 2020 – Marino – a New York City-based strategic communications firm – today announced that veteran journalist Aaron Smith has joined Marino as Director.
Smith comes to Marino from KCSA, where he served as a senior member of their team focused on building and executing public relations strategies for cannabis companies. He brings more than two decades of experience in business and local news reporting, including 13 years as a staff writer at CNN Business covering breaking news, the cannabis industry, Big Pharma and biotech, and more. Prior to CNN, Smith was a reporter for the New York Sun, the Staten Island Advance, People Magazine, as well as several local northeast newspapers.

As a PR executive, Aaron specializes in media relations for cannabis producers, processors, retailers and ancillary companies, helping them to secure positive media placement in the industry. He will play an integral role in launching Marino’s Cannabis Media Lab, an accelerator for promising cannabis startups as they navigate their way through the growing, and often challenging, field of cannabis PR.
Smith earned his bachelor’s degree in creative writing from Northern Vermont University. He resides in Brooklyn with his wife and their two children.
